Why engage the services of an IBCLC?

Parenting is daunting for everyone.  The early days and weeks after a baby can be overwhelming, highly emotive, confusing and stressful.  A difficult or long labour or a birth plan that hasn't gone to plan can leave parents feeling disillusioned and confused.  Often women are discharged from hospital less than 24 hours after giving birth when breastfeeding is not established or milk supply not yet in.  Lots of conflicting advice by family, friends, internet searches, blogs and the midwives in hospital can make this adjustment even more difficult and incredibly overwhelming for new parents.  Currently, we are at an amazing time in history where there is a plethora of knowledge available to women online, however much of it can be incorrect, inaccurate or conflicting.  The advent of Facebook, Twitter, Dr Google and baby blogs has information overload at its highest.

Breastfeeding is a learned skill for both you and your baby.  Baby's are instinctive with no concept of time, routines or rules we try to impose on them.  Adelaide Lactation Consultants & Midwifery provides up to date, evidence based information and advice which allows you to navigate the maze of early parenthood to place you in a comfortable position where you feel empowered and prepared for your new parenting role. One where you can enjoy your new baby and parenthood.  What to expect from a consultation with Adelaide Lactation Consultants & Midwifery.

A home visit from a private lactation consultant is a ‘bargain’ when you consider the cost of not breastfeeding. Your baby is worth the investment
