Vera's Birth Story

We did our hypnobirthing through Megan as a private midwife, who we ended up using for a lactation consultant when we had issues with latching and milk supply.

The course was essential for us because all prenatal classes were cancelled due to Covid. Otherwise I would have been terrified about the unknown.

I didn't know anything about labour going in so it was great to understand more about my body, the birth process and that I could prepare using strategies that worked for me. I learned that I had rights as the birth mother, that I could share my birth preferences, that adrenaline slows down active labour so achieving deep relaxation was key, that the body and baby know what to do. For me, it made me realise that our bodies had this extra software /hardware that would be switched on and was totally out of our control. Learning to surrender to the process really helped and I used all the relaxation strategies. I practiced for many months and did a number of birth rehearsals with Andrew. This was helpful because I could work out what I liked/didn't like.

For me, I knew exactly the role that Andrew would play in supporting our birth experience. We knew exactly what we needed to support each other through the process.

I recommend hypnobirthing to everyone planning on having a baby. It helped me enormously.

Andrew's comments:  Taking this hypno-birthing course not only allowed me a greater connection with our daughter’s birth, but gave me a role in her birth process that was holistic, meaningful, and valuable. I was able to provide my partner with specific support that we learned together, affirmations that we developed as a result of the course, and helped create a personal, loving atmosphere that welcomed our daughter into the world. I highly recommend hypno-birthing to all fathers who want to be active partners in their child’s birth.
